Community Gathers to Honor Fallen Detective William Osborn at Memorable Tribute in Yorba Linda

YORBA LINDA, Calif. — A memorial service will be held Tuesday to honor Detective William Osborn, one of three Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detectives who lost their lives in a tragic explosion at a training facility on July 16. The service is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Friends Church in Yorba Linda.

Detective Osborn, who dedicated 33 years to the Sheriff’s Department, is remembered for his mentorship to younger deputies and his unwavering commitment to public safety. He is survived by his wife, Detective Shannon Rincon, and their six children—four sons and two daughters.

After completing his training at the sheriff’s academy in February 1992, Osborn began his career at Men’s Central Jail. He moved to the Pico Rivera station in 1998, where he worked diligently for three years before being promoted to detective in 2001. Osborn later transferred to the department’s Industry station and joined the Arson Explosives Detail in 2019. His extensive experience and dedication made a significant impact on the community and his colleagues.

Sheriff Robert Luna is expected to attend the memorial service, which will also be livestreamed on the LASD Facebook page, allowing community members to join in paying their respects from afar. The explosion that claimed Detective Osborn’s life shocked the Los Angeles community, prompting an outpouring of grief and support for his family.

In the aftermath, many colleagues and friends have shared stories of Osborn’s dedication to his work and his profound influence on the lives of those around him. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of law enforcement officers.

As the community gathers to commemorate Osborn’s life, his family and fellow detectives are reminded of the sacrifices made by those who serve in law enforcement. The service not only honors him but also reinforces the commitment of the department to uphold the values that he exemplified throughout his career.
