Children Attacked with Meat Cleaver in Brooklyn

NEW YORK, NY – In a chilling incident in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, four young girls were attacked by a family member wielding a meat cleaver. Thanks to the quick actions of an 11-year-old girl and the NYPD, the children are expected to survive the ordeal.

The call for help came at 10:15 a.m. when the young girl, unable to provide her address, reached out to 911. Leveraging technology, police traced the call’s location and rushed to the residence. Upon arrival, officers heard cries for help and forced their way into the apartment.

They encountered Lung Chen Chen, 49, brandishing a bloody cleaver. Despite orders to drop the weapon, Chen advanced, prompting officers to open fire, ending the threat. The encounter was captured on body cameras.

Inside, officers found four girls with severe injuries. EMS provided immediate care before transporting them to the hospital. All are expected to recover, thanks to the swift response.

Authorities are investigating Chen’s relationship with the victims, with indications of a possible mental health history. The motive remains unclear.

Commissioner Jessica Tisch commended the NYPD and EMS for their life-saving actions. The bravery of the 11-year-old caller and another child who alerted a neighbor was also praised.
