GASPARILLO, Trinidad and Tobago – A horrifying incident at a KFC restaurant in Gasparillo, Trinidad and Tobago, left witnesses in shock and a child fleeing for safety. The altercation resulted in the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Luka Goring, as well as a violent stabbing.
Surveillance footage captured the chaotic scene, showing a child anxiously pacing at the restaurant’s service counter as a security guard attempted to intervene in a heated exchange between two customers. The situation quickly escalated, leading to Goring being left to bleed out on the restaurant’s floor, while traumatized customers looked on.
The footage revealed a woman unsheathing a knife-like item and giving it to one of the men involved in the exchange, just moments before the shooting occurred. The altercation, which took place around 7:15 p.m., resulted in Goring approaching another man and the security guard attempting to deter him. The situation then escalated, with one of the men making stabbing motions near the abdomen of the second man.
As the altercation unfolded, the child was left unattended and witnessed the fatal shooting of Goring, ultimately fleeing the scene. The aftermath of the shooting, which was captured on video by onlookers, showed a bloodied Goring being tended to by restaurant workers as an unknown woman wept.
The tragic incident has left the Gasparillo community in a state of panic, as residents are not accustomed to this level of violence. This event, along with other recent violent crimes in the area, has prompted local leaders to call for increased police presence and community intervention to address rising concerns about safety.
Gasparillo Business Chamber head, Samuel George, emphasized the need for increased patrols and security measures to protect businesses from becoming targets for criminals. Additionally, Member of Parliament for Tabaquite, Anita Haynes, highlighted the need for proper resourcing of the police to effectively combat crime.
