CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A Virginia man has been sentenced to over three decades behind bars following a grim incident at a local hookah lounge, where he assaulted and molested an employee. Ramon Millner, 32, received a sentence that totals 92 years, with several years suspended, leading to a definitive 34-year term in state prison.
The attack, which occurred on May 25, 2021, unravelled at a hookah lounge in Chesapeake’s Eden Way where the victim was working alone during her shift. According to court documents, Millner not only robbed the establishment but also seized the opportunity to detain and repeatedly assault the employee. The horrifying ordeal extended beyond the lounge’s confines when Millner transported the victim to an outdoor location where the assaults continued.
The severity of the attack was corroborated by police findings, which detailed numerous injuries on the victim, indicative of a violent and prolonged assault. Despite the evidence, Millner contended during police interrogations that the encounters were consensual, a claim that was clearly rejected by the court’s judgment.
During the trial, the prosecution pushed for a severe sentence reflective of the heinous nature of the crimes, leading to the harsh penalties underlined by the convictions. Millner was found guilty of an array of charges, including abduction with intent to defile, three counts each of strangulation, rape, and object sexual penetration, one count of robbery, and six counts of forcible sodomy.
Presiding over the case, the judge issued a sentence of 92 years, with 57 years and two months suspended based on state sentencing guidelines and the remainder to be actively served in prison. Additionally, the court issued a lifetime protective order strictly prohibiting any form of contact between Millner and the victim or her family, emphasizing the seriousness of his crimes.
Compounding his penalties, Millner is mandated to register as a sex offender, a lifelong status that publicly marks his convictions and serves to alert communities of his criminal background.
