Maddur, India—A dispute over alcohol consumption at a local hotel escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in the hospitalization of two staff members, authorities reported Saturday. The incident, which occurred at Sipayi Hotel in Mandya on December 1, began when a group of patrons were prohibited from drinking on the premises, leading to a heated exchange.
Late in the evening, the situation took a perilous turn as one of the patrons, identified as Manu from Shivapura, along with his associates, returned to the hotel wielding machetes and clubs. According to police, the group attacked the hotel manager, named Dileep, and a staff member, Chetan, in a scene strikingly violent and chaotic captured by the hotel’s security cameras.
The footage, now part of the police investigation, shows the attackers storming into the hotel and launching a coordinated assault on the staff members. Both Dileep and Chetan sustained serious injuries and were urgently transported to a private hospital in Mysuru for medical treatment.
Officials commented on the severity of the attack, noting the premeditated nature of the assault when the group returned armed and ready to exact vengeance. “This was a calculated act of violence, significantly elevating the gravity of the incident,” stated one officer involved in the case.
A case regarding the attack has been registered at Maddur Police Station. Law enforcement is actively pursuing leads to apprehend all individuals involved in the violence, as not all offenders have been detained.

The hospital report issued Saturday morning indicated that while still under medical care, both victims are stable but continue to recover from multiple injuries.
