Brutal Sheffield Assault Leaves Teenage Victims with Serious Injuries, Attacker Sentenced to Two Years and Two Months in Prison

SHEFFIELD, England – A terrifying phone call from a teenage girl, pleading for help and fearing for her life, shook a mother to her core after a brutal assault in Sheffield. On July 3, 2023, two teenage girls, ages 16 and 17, were viciously attacked by 21-year-old Cheyenne Sirvent on Washington Road.

Armed with a metal pole, Sirvent unleashed his rage on the girls, inflicting serious facial injuries on the 16-year-old, who was knocked unconscious and required surgery. Leaving his first victim vulnerable on the ground, Sirvent then attacked the 17-year-old, causing facial injuries before chasing her down the street.

The 16-year-old victim, regaining consciousness, desperately called her mother for help and stopped a passing motorist. Meanwhile, Sirvent called for help out of fear for potential repercussions, showing no remorse for the girls he had left injured.

As response officers and dog handlers arrived, Sirvent was found in possession of a kitchen knife. He ultimately admitted to the police where he had hidden the weapon used in the attack. In custody, Sirvent claimed he had believed the girls were attempting to burgle his property and was unaware of the injuries he had caused.

Following relentless work by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), 30 hours straight without rest, all evidence, medical records, clothing, and accounts were pieced together to ensure justice for the victims. Sirvent was charged with two counts of Section 18 wounding, later pleading guilty to two counts of Section 20 Grievous Bodily Harm, as well as possession of a bladed article and offensive weapon.

Appearing before Sheffield Crown Court, Sirvent was sentenced to two years and two months in prison. Detective Constable Ashleigh Doggett, the investigating officer, expressed satisfaction with the lengthy sentence handed to Sirvent for his brutal actions. Doggett emphasized the commitment to tackling violence against women and girls, pledging to keep the streets safe from criminals who seek to incite fear in others.
