BRONX, NY – An evening of violence in the Bronx resulted in one fatality and four injuries after gunfire erupted outside a local deli. Authorities suspect the shooting might be gang-related.
The incident occurred just after 7:30 p.m. on Allerton Avenue. A car pulled up, and multiple shots were fired, hitting five men. The victims were quickly taken to Jacobi Medical Center.
Among the injured, a 27-year-old was shot in the foot, one suffered a leg graze, and two others, aged 21 and 25, received arm injuries. All are stable, but a 25-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after being shot multiple times.
Police worked into the night, meticulously gathering evidence. The suspects’ vehicle, later found crashed, yielded three firearms. Several individuals were apprehended, including a critically injured 24-year-old male.
This shooting comes amid a reported decline in gun violence in the 49th Precinct, with incidents down by 58% compared to last year. Yet, the community remains vigilant as the investigation progresses.
Authorities are appealing for public assistance to bring those responsible to justice, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation.
