Boy Suffers Severe Burns from Hand Sanitizer Blast at Museum

SEMINOLE, OK – A joyful trip to the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum took a horrifying turn when a four-year-old boy was severely burned in an explosion involving hand sanitizer.

The young boy, Riker, was part of a group making s’mores when the incident occurred. Family friend Mkayla Peavey House described the scene as chaotic, with flames suddenly enveloping the child.

Witnesses noted the distinctive blue and green flames, attributing the fire to the alcohol in the hand sanitizer. Daisy Phillips, another family friend, expressed disappointment in the museum staff’s lack of action, highlighting that it was the parents who intervened to help Riker.

Riker was flown to Integris Baptist Hospital, where he is being treated for second-degree burns. Doctors are monitoring his condition closely and considering additional medical interventions.

The museum released a statement commending its staff, a narrative that has been disputed by those in attendance. Many believe the museum is not fully acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

An investigation has been launched to understand what went wrong and how such a dangerous situation arose. The community is focusing on Riker’s recovery and advocating for stronger safety protocols.

As the investigation continues, questions about museum safety and emergency preparedness remain at the forefront of discussions, with many calling for accountability and change.
