BJP Releases Video Alleging Multi-Crore Ration Scam in West Bengal – Days After Violent Attack on ED Officials

Kolkata, West Bengal – After a violent attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials during a search operation in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a video alleging a multi-crore ration distribution scam involving a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader. The video, shared on social media, accuses the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government of being involved in the scam, which is also known as the PDS scam.

The video claims that an influential businessman, Bakibur Rahman, supplied rice and wheat in quantities less than mandated to Fair Price Shops (FPS) distributors in the state. The BJP alleges that Rahman was patronized by the former Food and Supplies Minister in the TMC government, Jyotipriya Mallick, and both were later arrested. The video also highlights the attack on the ED officials in Bengal.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has refused to comment on the Sandeshkhali incident and the escape of her party leader, Shahjahan Sheikh, stating that the matter is under investigation. Following the attack, the central probe agency issued a statement mentioning that three officials sustained ‘grievous’ injuries and had their belongings robbed. The incident has drawn criticism from Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose and the BJP.

The West Bengal Governor condemned the incident, stating that the state is not a banana republic and calling on the government to stop barbarism and vandalism in a democracy. The matter remains under investigation, leaving the public awaiting further developments in the case.
