Arrests Made in Summer Murder of Homeless Man: Justice Pursued in Augusta Shooting Case

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Two individuals have been taken into custody in relation to the fatal shooting of a homeless man this summer. Carl Dednam Jr., 41, was shot on July 13 at a location on Windsor Springs Road, prompting a thorough investigation by local authorities.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office announced the issuance of arrest warrants on Monday for two suspects: 29-year-old Fabian Tremaine Lee, and 30-year-old Tyeisha Rhonda Manning, both residents of Hephzibah. Lee faces a murder charge, while Manning is accused of tampering with evidence.

Lee has been held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center since September 18 on separate charges, and authorities have now added the murder allegation to his record. Meanwhile, Manning was arrested Monday afternoon on James Drive and subsequently booked into jail.

Sheriff Eugene Brantley emphasized the importance of justice for every member of the community, stating, “Our investigators worked tirelessly on this case to ensure that those responsible were identified and held accountable.” He highlighted the dedication of Investigator Tyler Steerman, who played a critical role in the progress of the investigation.

The tragic shooting of Dednam drew significant attention, underscoring ongoing concerns about violence and the treatment of vulnerable populations within the community. Local outreach organizations have called for greater awareness and support for homeless individuals, who often face heightened risks of violence.

As the investigation continues, authorities are focused on ensuring that justice is served. Community members are encouraged to provide any information that may assist in the case, reinforcing that every life matters and that accountability is essential in maintaining public safety.
