HOUSTON, TX – A tense morning unfolded in the Meyerland area when a man allegedly armed with a hammer and knife broke a window at a local apartment, leading to a series of events that ended in gunfire and an arrest.
Residents of the Jackson Square Apartments were startled when a man, reportedly seen peering through a bathroom window earlier, returned and shattered it. Keonte Davis, who lives in the apartment, recounted the eerie encounter when the man first approached them, asking for a cigarette.
After being initially scared off by Davis’s brother-in-law, the suspect returned, causing more alarm. Davis’s mother, inside the bathroom during the break-in, was so frightened by the noise that she thought someone was shooting.
The confrontation escalated when Davis’s brother-in-law confronted the man outside, who was said to be holding a butcher knife. Shots were fired, injuring the suspect in the leg, and police were called to the scene.
The situation took an unexpected turn when officers arrested Davis’s brother-in-law, threatening him with charges of aggravated assault. His wife, Darion Davis, argued that her husband was merely defending their home.
The suspect was hospitalized, but authorities have yet to decide on any charges against him. Davis believes the man has been illegally occupying a nearby vacant apartment and has a history of disturbing other residents.
This incident has left the family and neighbors uneasy, criticizing the perceived inaction of the police and questioning their safety in the area.
Currently, no charges have been filed against Davis’s brother-in-law, and his family has not seen him since the arrest.
